Hayashi Fruit Stand
Oceano
A daily family stand in Oceano, with strawberries (white ones too) from its own fields
About
The Hayashi stand sits at Cienaga Street and South Halcyon Road in Oceano and opens every day. What you find depends on what just came off the family fields: strawberries (including white ones), other fruit, vegetables and flower bouquets, plus shelf items like jams, jellies and salad dressing. The family also sells at farmers markets around the county, including downtown SLO and Templeton.
The Hayashi family has farmed around Arroyo Grande and Oceano since Yeiju Hayashi arrived from Japan in 1918. Today his grandson, Alan Hayashi, runs about 300 acres, mostly in Oceano, and the stand is where a lot of that harvest lands first.
